Early Life

Carlos Oscar Pachamé is an Argentine former football player and coach, known for his significant contributions to the sport both on and off the field. Born in Argentina, Pachamé developed a passion for football early in life, which led him to pursue a career in the sport.

Playing Career

Pachamé's professional playing career began at Estudiantes de La Plata, where he played as a defensive midfielder from 1963 to 1971 and again from 1974 to 1976. During his time with Estudiantes, he was part of a legendary team that won three consecutive Copa Libertadores titles from 1968 to 1970, as well as the 1968 Copa Intercontinental. His formidable midfield partnership with Carlos Bilardo and Eduardo Flores became a hallmark of the team's success. In addition to his club achievements, Pachamé represented the Argentina national team from 1967 to 1969 and had stints with Boca Juniors, Quilmes, Lanús, Independiente Medellín, and the Rochester Lancers.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Pachamé transitioned into coaching, where he continued to make an impact on Argentine football. He notably led the Argentina under-20 national team to a second-place finish in the 1983 U-20 World Cup. Furthermore, he served as an assistant coach under Carlos Bilardo during the senior national team's triumphant 1986 FIFA World Cup campaign in Mexico, where Argentina claimed the title, and he was also part of the team that finished as runners-up in the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Pachamé's legacy in football is marked by his dual success as both a player and a coach, contributing to Argentina's rich football history.
