Manuel Sanchís Hontiyuelo, known as Manolo Sanchís, was born in Madrid, Spain, where he would later rise to prominence as a professional footballer. A product of Real Madrid's esteemed youth system, Sanchís made his first-team debut on December 4, 1983, scoring the only goal in a match against Real Murcia CF. His early career was marked by a rapid ascent, as he finished his debut season with 17 appearances and two goals for the main squad.

Career

Sanchís enjoyed a remarkable career at Real Madrid, spanning nearly two decades from 1983 to 2001. Over this period, he became a key figure in the team's defense, playing as a sweeper. He was instrumental in securing numerous titles, including six La Liga championships and two UEFA Champions League trophies. Notably, he contributed to Real Madrid's eighth European Cup victory in the 1999-2000 season, playing a crucial role in the final against Valencia CF. By the time he retired at the age of 36, Sanchís had made an impressive 710 official appearances for the club, 523 of which were in league matches, and he captained the team for 13 years.

International Career

On the international stage, Sanchís represented Spain at various levels, including the under-18, under-21, and under-23 teams.
