Aleksandr Anyukov

Early Life

Aleksandr Gennadyevich Anyukov was born in Russia and began his football journey at a young age, attending a football school in Samara from the age of six. His early dedication to the sport led him to join the reserve team of FC Krylia Sovetov Samara in 2000, where he quickly caught the attention of coach Aleksandr Tarkhanov, who promoted him to the first team.

Career

Anyukov made his debut in the Russian Premier League on October 14, 2000, against Zenit Saint Petersburg. He played for Krylia Sovetov until mid-2005, during which time he also represented the Russia national under-21 team and made appearances for the senior national team, including at Euro 2004. In July 2005, Anyukov transferred to FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, where he enjoyed significant success, winning multiple domestic titles and the UEFA Cup in 2008. After a long and illustrious playing career, he transitioned into coaching, joining Zenit's coaching staff in June 2019. Remarkably, he came out of retirement in July 2019 to play for Krylia Sovetov Samara on loan for the 2019-20 season before returning to his coaching role at Zenit in May 2020.

Legacy

Throughout his career, Anyukov was recognized for his contributions to Russian football, earning the title of Honoured Master of Sports of Russia. His achievements with Zenit include winning the Russian Premier League five times and the UEFA Super Cup in 2008. On the international stage, he was part of the Russian team that secured a bronze medal at the UEFA European Championship in 2008, solidifying his legacy as one of Russia's notable footballers.
