Almir also had international experiences, playing for clubs like Shonan Bellmare in Japan and Gaziantepspor in Turkey.

Throughout his career, Almir represented the Brazil men's national football team from 1990 to 1993, further solidifying his status as a talented striker. He played for various clubs, including CR Vasco da Gama, Clube Atlético Mineiro, and Querétaro F.C., among others, before retiring from professional football in 2008 after a season with Mogi Mirim Esporte Clube.
