Atsushi Yoneyama

Early Life

Atsushi Yoneyama was born on November 20, 1976, in Utsunomiya, Japan. He pursued his education at Komazawa University, where he began to hone his skills in football, setting the stage for his future career in the sport.

Career

Yoneyama's professional football career began in 1998 when he joined Verdy Kawasaki, which later became known as Tokyo Verdy. He quickly established himself as a regular center-back, contributing to the team's success, including a notable victory in the J.League Cup in 2004. However, after the club faced relegation to the J2 League in 2005, he transferred to Kawasaki Frontale in 2006. His time there was limited, leading him to Nagoya Grampus in 2007, where he continued to play until 2009. He then returned to his roots, joining Tochigi SC, a local club, where he played until his retirement in November 2011.

In addition to his club career, Yoneyama also represented the Japan national team, earning his first and only cap in February 2000 during the Asian Cup qualification against Brunei.

Managerial Career

After hanging up his boots, Yoneyama transitioned into management, taking the helm at Tokyo 23 FC in 2012. His managerial journey continued as he joined Kamatamare Sanuki in November 2022, preparing for the 2023 season. Yoneyama's experience as a player and manager reflects his deep commitment to the sport and his desire to contribute to the development of football in Japan.
