Early Life

Eduardo Antônio dos Santos, known as Edu Manga, was born in Brazil in 1967. He grew up with a passion for football, which would lead him to a successful career as a professional player. His journey in football began at a young age, and he quickly made a name for himself as a talented midfielder.

Career

Edu Manga's professional career spanned from 1986 to 2002, during which he played for several clubs both in Brazil and abroad. He started his career at Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras (1986–1990), where he showcased his skills and earned recognition. He then had a brief stint with S.C. Corinthians Paulista in 1992 before moving to Club América in Mexico, where he played from 1990 to 1995. Throughout his career, he also played for clubs like Real Valladolid in Spain, Club Deportivo Universidad Católica in Chile, and several Brazilian teams including Paraná Clube and Sport Club do Recife.

In addition to his club career, Edu Manga represented the Brazil men's national football team from 1987 to 1989, participating in the 1987 Copa América tournament. His contributions to the national team further solidified his status as a prominent figure in Brazilian football.

Legacy

Edu Manga's career came to an end in 2002, but his impact on the sport continued to be felt. He passed away on October 3, 2025, in Barueri, São Paulo, due to kidney disease, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated and skilled midfielder who made significant contributions to both his clubs and the national team. His journey through football remains an inspiration to many aspiring players.
