FC Hegelmann

Formation

FC Hegelmann, a professional football club based in Raudondvaris, Lithuania, was established in early 2009 under the name FC Hegelmann Litauen. The club was founded by Hegelmann Transporte, a German logistics company, with the name reflecting both the family name of Anton Hegelmann and the German word for Lithuania, "Litauen." Initially competing in the lower divisions of Lithuanian football, the club quickly made its mark by achieving first place in the 2018 II Lyga, which led to their promotion to the I Lyga, the second tier of Lithuanian football.

Rise to Prominence

In 2019, FC Hegelmann finished 7th in the LFF I Lyga, but they aimed higher and applied to join the A Lyga in 2020, although they later withdrew the application. The club's persistence paid off when they secured second place in the I Lyga during the 2020 season, earning promotion to the A Lyga. Under the management of Andrius Skerla, who took over in January 2021, Hegelmann made a strong debut in the top division, finishing fifth in their inaugural season.

Cup Success and European Debut

The 2022 season marked a significant milestone for FC Hegelmann as they reached the final of the Lithuanian Football Cup for the first time, defeating FK Panevėžys in the semi-finals before narrowly losing to FK Žalgiris. The club finished fourth in the A Lyga that year, qualifying for the first round of the 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League, where they played their first European match against Macedonian club KF Shkupi, ending in a goalless draw.

Honours

FC Hegelmann has achieved notable success, including being runners-up in the A Lyga in 2024 and 2025, and winning the II Lyga Southern Zone in 2018. They have also been runners-up in the Lithuanian Cup three times, showcasing their growing presence in Lithuanian football.
