Early Life and Career Beginnings

Erik Karl-Fredrik Stenman, a Swedish former professional footballer, was born in Munktorp and began his football journey with Västerås SK in 1999. He made his Allsvenskan debut for IF Elfsborg in 2002 before moving to Djurgårdens IF in 2003. During his time at Djurgården, Stenman contributed to the team's success, helping them secure the Allsvenskan titles in 2003 and 2005, as well as the Svenska Cupen in 2004 and 2005.

Professional Career

In 2006, Stenman transitioned to the Bundesliga, signing with Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of 8 million SEK. He played 28 matches in the Bundesliga before moving to FC Groningen in the Netherlands in 2007. His career continued in Belgium with Club Brugge from 2011 to 2014, after which he returned to Djurgårdens IF for a second stint. Stenman faced challenges with playing time during this period and ultimately retired from professional football in 2015, later joining IFK Lidingö in Division 3 Östra Svealand. In 2019, he made a brief comeback, participating in a match for the club in Division 2 Norra Svealand.

International Career

Stenman also represented Sweden on the international stage, earning three caps between 2006 and 2011. He was part of the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, serving as a backup left back behind Erik Edman. His contributions to the national team highlighted his skills as a defender and his commitment to Swedish football.
