Rinaldi's professional career took off in 1978 when he joined S.C. Internacional, where he played until 1985, winning multiple Rio Grande do Sul State Championships during his tenure. He then moved to São Paulo FC from 1986 to 1990, where he continued to excel, contributing to the team's success in the São Paulo State Championship and the Brazilian National Championship in 1986. Following his time at São Paulo, Rinaldi played for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo from 1991 to 1994, adding a Rio State Championship and another Brazilian National Championship to his accolades.

In addition to his club success, Rinaldi was a key player for the Brazil men's national football team from 1986 to 1995, culminating in a memorable victory at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. After retiring from professional play, he transitioned into a career as a football agent, representing notable players such as Adriano.
