Jordi Masip

Early Life

Jordi Masip López was born in Sabadell, Barcelona, Catalonia, where he began his journey in football at a young age. At just 15 years old, he joined FC Barcelona's prestigious La Masia academy in 2004, where he honed his skills as a goalkeeper.

Career

Masip made his professional debut during the 2008–09 season while on loan at UE Vilajuïga, competing in the Tercera División. He returned to FC Barcelona Atlètic, where he served as a backup goalkeeper before being promoted to the first team in the 2014–15 season. Wearing the #25 jersey, he played behind notable goalkeepers Claudio Bravo and Marc-André ter Stegen. His competitive debut for FC Barcelona's main squad came on December 16, 2014, in a Copa del Rey match against SD Huesca, where he contributed to an impressive 8–1 victory. He made his La Liga debut on May 23, 2015, in a match against Deportivo de La Coruña.

In July 2017, Masip signed a three-year contract with Real Valladolid, where he quickly established himself as a key player, participating in every minute of his debut season except for the final moments of a crucial playoff match. His performances attracted interest from several clubs, leading him to extend his contract with Valladolid in July 2019.

Legacy

Throughout his career, Masip has achieved significant honors, including winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey with FC Barcelona, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup in 2015. He also played a vital role in helping Real Valladolid secure promotion through the Segunda División play-offs in 2018.
