Personal life

Kwakman survived the Volendam New Year's fire in 2001, spending nine days in hospital with second-degree burns to his hands and neck. In the summer of 2018, Kwakman retired from football and became a pundit with Fox Sports Eredivisie. Kees' father, Wim Kwakman, played 259 games for FC Volendam (scoring 33 goals) between 1969 and 1984.
