Early Life

Kengo Kawamata is a Japanese footballer born in Japan, who began his journey in football as an apprentice professional at Ehime FC in 2006 while still studying at Komatsu High School. He made his debut in the J2 League against Mito HollyHock, where he quickly showcased his potential by providing an assist in his second match.

Career

After graduating high school, Kawamata joined Albirex Niigata, where he made a significant impact. In 2010, he was loaned to Brazilian club Grêmio Esportivo Catanduvense, marking his first international experience. Upon returning to Japan, he had a breakout season in 2012 with Fagiano Okayama, scoring 18 goals in 38 appearances. This performance led to a triumphant return to Albirex Niigata, where he netted 23 goals in 34 matches during the 2014 season. His success earned him a transfer to Nagoya Grampus, followed by stints at Júbilo Iwata and JEF United Chiba. As of 2023, he plays for Azul Claro Numazu.

Kawamata also represented the Japan men's national football team from 2015 to 2018, further solidifying his status as a prominent forward in Japanese football.
