Kiyonosuke Marutani was a Japanese football player known for his contributions to the sport during the early 20th century. His journey in football began in Japan, where he developed his skills and passion for the game, eventually leading him to represent his country on the international stage.

Career

Marutani's club career was primarily associated with Osaka SC, a team founded by graduates of his alma mater high school. This club was notable for featuring several prominent players of the Japan national team, including Yoshimatsu Oyama, Toshio Miyaji, Uichiro Hatta, and Sakae Takahashi, who were all active during Marutani's time. His talent as a midfielder earned him recognition, and in May 1925, he was selected to join the Japan national team for the Far Eastern Championship Games held in Manila. Unfortunately, Marutani's debut match on May 20, 1925, against the Republic of China ended in disappointment, as Japan lost 0-2.
