Sasaki began his professional football journey in 1958 when he joined Dunlop Japan. His skills as a forward quickly earned him recognition, leading to his selection for the Japan men's national football team. He made his debut on December 25, 1958, in a match against Hong Kong. Over the next three years, he represented Japan in 14 international matches, scoring one goal before concluding his national team career in 1961.
