Minoru Kobata was born on November 24, 1946, in Saitama, Japan. He pursued his education at Meiji University, where he honed his skills in football, setting the stage for his future career in the sport.

Career

Kobata began his professional football journey in 1969 when he joined Hitachi, a club that would become a significant part of his life. Over the years, he made a notable impact, helping the team secure the Japan Soccer League title in 1972 and the Emperor's Cup in both 1972 and 1975. Throughout his time at Hitachi, he played 99 league games and scored 22 goals, showcasing his talent as a midfielder. His exceptional performance earned him a spot in the Japan Soccer League Best Eleven in 1970, highlighting his status as one of the top players in the league.

In addition to his club success, Kobata also represented the Japan men's national football team from 1970 to 1973. He made his debut on July 31, 1970, against Hong Kong and participated in the 1970 Asian Games and the 1974 World Cup qualification matches. Over his international career, he played 13 games for Japan, contributing to the growth of football in the country.
