Biography
Early Life
Nabil Fekir was born in 1993 to Algerian parents in France, where his father worked in a metallurgy factory and his mother served as a social worker. Growing up in a family of four brothers, Fekir was the eldest and showed a passion for football from a young age. He began his youth career at Olympique Lyonnais at the age of 12 but faced a setback when he was released for not being strong enough. Undeterred, he rejoined Vaulx-en-Velin and later continued his development at Saint-Priest, where he caught the attention of scouts across France. Fekir's determination led him back to Lyon in 2011, where he aimed to prove the club wrong for letting him go.
Career
Fekir made his professional debut for Lyon in 2013 and quickly established himself as a key player. He scored his first competitive goal in 2014 and continued to impress, leading to his selection for the France national team. Fekir made his senior debut in 2015 and scored his first goal shortly thereafter. His career has seen him play for Lyon until 2019, after which he joined Real Betis Balompié. As of 2024, he is set to play for Al Jazira Club, with a future move to Abha planned for 2026. Throughout his career, Fekir has been recognized for his unique playing style, described by national team manager Didier Deschamps as a player with great potential who can score and assist effectively.
Personal Life
Fekir is a practicing Muslim and is known for his charitable contributions, especially during Ramadan when he is unable to fast due to his football commitments. He shares a close bond with his family, particularly with his brother Yassin, who also played professionally at Lyon and later transferred to Betis with him. Fekir's roots in Algeria remain significant to him, as he often reflects on his heritage and the journey that brought his family to France.

He rejoined Vaulx-en-Velin and continued his youth career at Saint-Priest, where he was tracked by scouts from across France.
