Early Life

Owusu Benson, also known as Benson Owusu, is a retired Ghanaian football player who made significant contributions to the sport during his career. Born in Ghana, he later moved to Switzerland, where he spent a considerable part of his professional life. Owusu is known for his position as a midfielder, showcasing his skills on various teams throughout his career.

Career

Benson's football journey began with Accra Hearts of Oak SC in 1994, where he played for a brief period. He then ventured to Europe, joining FC Solothurn in 1995, and subsequently played for several clubs in Switzerland, including Yverdon-Sport FC, FC Sion, and SC Kriens. His career also included a stint at JEF United Chiba in Japan in 2000, marking a significant international experience. Notably, he represented the Ghana men's national football team in 1999.

In 2008, Benson faced a life-threatening situation when he suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session. Fortunately, he was successfully resuscitated and recovered from a coma shortly after. He continued to play for SC Kriens until 2008 before moving to SC Buochs, where he played until 2011.

Personal Life

Beyond his football career, Benson is a proud father to Tyron Owusu, who has followed in his footsteps and is also a footballer. Owusu's legacy in football is marked not only by his achievements on the field but also by his resilience in overcoming personal challenges during his career.
