Sanae Mishima

Early Life

Sanae Mishima was born on May 3, 1957, in Japan. Growing up in a country where football was gaining popularity, she developed a passion for the sport that would shape her future.

Career

Mishima's football career took off when she was selected to join the Japan women's national football team in June 1981. Her debut came during the 1981 AFC Championship, where she played against Thailand on June 11. This match marked a significant milestone in her career, as it was her first appearance on the international stage. Later that year, she faced Italy, but unfortunately, Japan suffered a heavy defeat, losing 0-9, which remains the largest loss in the history of the national team. Throughout 1981, she played a total of two games for Japan, showcasing her skills and determination on the field.

Mishima also played for FC PAF, contributing to the development of women's football in Japan. Her involvement in both club and national team football helped pave the way for future generations of female athletes in the sport.
