Satoshi Miyauchi

Early Life

Satoshi Miyauchi was born on November 26, 1959, in Tokyo, Japan. He began his journey in football at a young age, eventually graduating from high school and joining Furukawa Electric in 1978. His early career was marked by challenges, including injuries that limited his playing time.

Club Career

Miyauchi's club career took off in the early 1980s when he became a regular player for Furukawa Electric. During his tenure from 1978 to 1988, he contributed to the team's success, helping them secure the JSL Cup in 1982, the Japan Soccer League title in 1985-86, and the JSL Cup again in 1986. Notably, he was part of the squad that won the 1986 Asian Club Championship, marking a significant achievement as the first Asian champions from Japan. Over his club career, he played 114 games and scored 6 goals.

International Career

Miyauchi's international career began with the Japan U-20 national team, where he was selected for the 1979 World Youth Championship, although he did not play. He made his debut for the Japan national team on September 30, 1984, against South Korea and went on to represent his country in 20 matches until 1987, participating in the 1986 World Cup qualification and the 1988 Summer Olympics qualification.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Miyauchi transitioned into coaching, taking the helm of the L.League club Prima Ham FC Kunoichi in 1989. Under his management, the club won the Empress's Cup in 1994 and the L.League titles in 1995 and 1997. He later managed the Japan women's national team, leading them in the 1997 AFC Women's Championship and the 1998 Asian Games, where they secured third place in both tournaments. His coaching tenure included the 1999 World Cup, although Japan did not advance past the group stage, leading to his resignation after the tournament.
