Career

Kamo's football career reached a significant milestone in 1936 when he was selected to represent the Japan national team at the Summer Olympics held in Berlin. This was a historic moment for Japanese football, as Kamo made his debut against Sweden on August 4, 1936. In a remarkable match, Japan achieved a come-from-behind victory, marking their first Olympic win and earning the match the nickname "Miracle of Berlin" in Japan. Kamo also played against Italy on August 7, 1936, contributing to the team's efforts in the tournament. Throughout his career, he played as a forward, showcasing his skills on the international stage.

Legacy

Kamo's contributions to Japanese football were recognized long after his playing days. In 2016, the team he was part of during the 1936 Olympics was inducted into the Japan Football Hall of Fame, solidifying their place in the history of the sport. Kamo passed away on March 26, 2004, at the age of 89 due to heart failure, leaving behind a legacy as the last surviving member of his Olympic team. His brother, Shogo Kamo, also made his mark in football, representing Japan at the Olympics, further highlighting the family's impact on the sport.
