Parakhnevych's professional career began in 1987 with FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka, where he played for a brief period. He then moved to SC Odesa, where he showcased his skills from 1988 to 1992. His career continued to flourish as he played for several clubs, including FC Chornomorets Odesa, FC Lokomotiv Moscow, and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC, among others. Notably, he represented the Tajikistan national team in 1997, and also played for the Soviet Union and Ukraine national teams, highlighting his versatility and talent on the field.

In August 1997, Parakhnevych was called upon to join the Tajikistan national team for a match against South Korea, demonstrating his importance to the team during a time of logistical challenges.
