Donizete's professional career began at Fluminense F.C., where he played from 1987 to 1989. He then moved to Grêmio FBPA, contributing to the team from 1990 to 1991. His journey continued with Red Bull Bragantino (1992-1994) and a significant stint at Cruzeiro E.C. (1996-1997, 1999-2000). In 1998, he briefly played for E.C. Vitória before joining the Brazil men's national football team, where he represented his country from 1990 to 2000. Donizete also had international experiences with clubs like Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan and CR Vasco da Gama, where he played multiple times throughout his career. His versatility and talent on the field made him a valuable player for various teams, including a short spell at Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras in 2001.
