Edvaldo Oliveira Chaves, widely known as Pita, is a Brazilian association football player and manager. Born in Brazil, Pita developed a passion for football at a young age, which led him to pursue a career in the sport. He became known for his skills as an offensive midfielder, a position that would define his playing style and career trajectory.

Career

Pita's professional career began with Santos F.C., where he played from 1977 to 1984. His time at Santos was marked by significant achievements, establishing him as a talented midfielder. He then moved to São Paulo FC, where he played from 1985 to 1988, further enhancing his reputation in Brazilian football. In 1988, Pita took his talents abroad to France, joining RC Strasbourg Alsace for a season before returning to Brazil to play for Guarani Futebol Clube (1989-1990).

His international career included representing the Brazil men's national football team from 1980 to 1987, where he showcased his skills on a global stage. Pita also had stints in Japan, playing for Shonan Bellmare and Nagoya Grampus, before concluding his playing career with Associação Atlética Internacional in 1994. After retiring from professional play, Pita transitioned into management and currently serves as the General Manager for Desportivo Brasil, contributing to the development of future football talents.
