Kazuaki Nagasawa

Early Life

Kazuaki Nagasawa was born on February 4, 1958, in Shizuoka, Japan. He pursued his education at Tokyo University of Agriculture, where he honed his skills in football, setting the stage for his future career in the sport.

Career

Nagasawa began his professional football journey in 1980 when he joined Yamaha Motors, which later became known as Júbilo Iwata. Over the course of his club career, he played as a midfielder, participating in 123 league matches and scoring 9 goals before retiring in 1989 due to injury. His national team career was marked by his debut on July 13, 1978, against Iraq, while he was still a student. Although he faced a hiatus from the national team until 1985, he made a notable return to represent Japan in the 1986 World Cup qualification, ultimately playing 9 matches for his country until 1985.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Nagasawa transitioned into coaching, starting at Yamaha Motors. He became the manager in 1991, leading the team to a commendable second place in the Japan Football League in 1993, which earned them promotion to the J1 League. He later managed several clubs, including Suzuyo Shimizu FC Lovely Ladies and Honda, and continued to influence the sport by coaching at various universities and high schools after his tenure in professional football.
