Kyoko Yano

Early Life

Kyoko Yano was born on June 3, 1984, in Yokohama, Japan. She pursued her education at Kanagawa University, where she developed her skills in football, eventually leading to her selection for the national team.

Career

Yano's professional career began when she joined the Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies in 2007 after graduating from university. During her time with the club, she made a significant impact, playing 111 matches in the L.League over six seasons and earning the Best Young Player award in her debut season. She was consistently recognized for her talent, being selected for the Best Eleven every season until her retirement at the end of the 2012 season.

On the international stage, Yano represented the Japan women's national football team from 2003 to 2012. She made her debut during the 2003 AFC Championship, where she scored a goal against Guam. Over her international career, she participated in three World Cups (2003, 2007, and 2011) and three Summer Olympics (2004, 2008, and 2012). Notably, she was part of the team that won the World Cup in 2011 and secured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics. By the time she retired from international play, Yano had appeared in 74 matches and scored one goal for Japan.
