Miho Fukumoto

Early Life

Miho Fukumoto was born on October 2, 1983, in Ibusuki, Japan. From a young age, she showed a passion for football, which led her to pursue a career in the sport. After graduating from high school, she took a significant step in her football journey by joining Okayama Yunogo Belle in 2001.

Club Career

Fukumoto's club career spanned over a decade at Okayama Yunogo Belle, where she played from 2003 to 2016. During her time there, she made a remarkable impact, playing in 259 matches and earning the distinction of being selected for the Best Eleven three times in 2006, 2012, and 2014. In August 2016, she transitioned to INAC Kobe Leonessa, although her playing time was limited. In 2019, she moved to Chifure AS Elfen Saitama, and later joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima Regina in 2021, continuing to showcase her skills as a goalkeeper.

International Career

Fukumoto's international career began in 2002 when she was selected for the Japan U-20 national team for the U-19 World Championship. She made her debut for the senior Japan national team on October 4, 2002, against Vietnam during the Asian Games. Over the years, she became a key player for Japan, participating in three World Cups (2007, 2011, and 2015) and two Summer Olympics (2008 and 2012). Notably, she was part of the team that won the championship at the 2011 World Cup and earned a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, capping her international career with 81 appearances for her country until 2016.
