Mitsugu Nomura was born on November 21, 1956, in Muroran, Japan. He pursued his education at Sapporo University, where he developed his passion for football, setting the stage for his future career in the sport.
Career
Nomura began his professional football journey in 1979 when he joined Fujita Industries, now known as Shonan Bellmare. During his tenure with the club from 1979 to 1989, he made a significant impact, helping the team secure the Japan Soccer League title and the Emperor's Cup in his first year. His performance earned him a spot in the Best Eleven in 1981, and he concluded his club career with 150 appearances and 4 goals.
In addition to his club success, Nomura represented the Japan men's national football team from 1981 to 1982. He made his debut on June 2, 1981, against China and went on to play 12 matches for his country, showcasing his skills as a defender.
After retiring as a player, Nomura transitioned into coaching. In 2007, he took the helm at TEPCO Mareeze in the L.League Division 2, leading the team to a championship and promotion to Division 1 before resigning at the end of the 2008 season.
