Miyuki Izumi

Early Life

Miyuki Izumi was born on May 31, 1975, in Tokyo, Japan. From a young age, she showed a passion for football, which would lead her to a successful career in the sport.

Career

Izumi began her professional journey in 1989 when she joined Shinko Seiko FC Clair, later known as Tokyo Shidax LSC. Her talent was quickly recognized as she was awarded the Young Player Award in her debut season. However, the club disbanded in 1995, prompting her to move to Suzuyo Shimizu FC Lovely Ladies. During the 1998 season, she had a remarkable performance, playing 18 games and scoring 21 goals, making her the top scorer of the league. Unfortunately, Suzuyo Shimizu FC withdrew from the L.League, leading her to join Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza in 1999, where she continued to excel until her retirement at the end of the 2006 season. Throughout her career, she was honored as a Best Eleven player twice, in 1998 and 1999.

Izumi also made significant contributions to the Japan women's national football team. She debuted on May 16, 1996, in a match against the United States and was a member of the team during the 1996 Summer Olympics, where she played five games. Her dedication and skill on the field have left a lasting impact on Japanese women's football.
