Early Life

Paulo Roberto Jamelli Júnior, known as Jamelli, was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where he began his journey in football. He made his professional debut with his hometown club, São Paulo FC, appearing in seven Série A matches. His early career laid the foundation for a successful trajectory in both Brazilian and international football.

Career

Jamelli's career took off at Santos FC, where he made a significant impact by scoring 13 goals over two seasons. His performances caught the attention of international clubs, leading him to Kashiwa Reysol in Japan. However, in January 1998, he transitioned to Spain's Real Zaragoza, where he became a crucial attacking player. During the 2000-01 season, he achieved his career-best performance, netting 13 goals in La Liga and contributing to Zaragoza's Copa del Rey victory, scoring in the final against Celta de Vigo.

After Zaragoza's relegation in 2002, Jamelli returned to Brazil, joining S.C. Corinthians Paulista in 2003. He concluded his playing career in 2006 after short stints with several clubs, including Shimizu S-Pulse and Atlético Mineiro. Following retirement, he took on a role as a technical coordinator at Coritiba in 2008 but left the position the following year due to personal issues with the coaching staff.

Personal Life and Legacy

In addition to his football career, Jamelli ventured into politics, running for state deputy in São Paulo in 2014 as a candidate for the Communist Party of Brazil. Although he received over 2,000 votes, he was not elected. Jamelli's journey through football and politics reflects his diverse interests and commitment to his community, leaving a unique legacy in both fields.
