Roy Smith

Early Life

Roy Alexander Smith Lewis is a professional footballer from Costa Rica, born in 1990. He has made a name for himself as a centre-back, showcasing his skills on both domestic and international stages. His journey in football began at a young age, leading him to represent his country in various youth tournaments.

Career

Smith's professional career kicked off at Brujas F.C., where he played from 2007 to 2011. He then had a brief stint at LDA in 2011 before moving to Japan to join Gainare Tottori in 2012. His time in Japan was notable as he was joined by compatriot Kenny Cunningham. In January 2013, Smith signed with Bolivian champions The Strongest, where he scored his first goal against Oriente Petrolero in March of the same year.

After returning to Costa Rica, he made his debut for Club Sport Uruguay de Coronado in August 2013 and later moved to Santos de Guápiles in 2014, where he continues to play. Throughout his club career, Smith has demonstrated his defensive prowess and has been a reliable player for his teams.

International Career

On the international front, Smith represented Costa Rica at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the team finished fourth. He made his senior debut in October 2010 against Peru and earned his second cap shortly after against El Salvador, marking the beginning of his journey with the national team.
