Sakiko Ikeda

Early Life

Sakiko Ikeda was born on September 8, 1992, in Saitama, Japan. From a young age, she showed a passion for football, which led her to join the youth team of Urawa Red Diamonds. Her dedication and talent quickly propelled her through the ranks of the club.

Career

In 2011, Ikeda made her professional debut with Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, where she has played as a goalkeeper ever since. Her skills on the field earned her a spot on the Japan women's national football team in 2017. Ikeda's international career began with the U-17 national team, where she participated in the 2008 U-17 World Cup. She later played for the U-20 team in the 2012 U-20 World Cup, helping Japan secure a third-place finish.

Ikeda's notable achievements with the senior national team include participating in the 2017 Algarve Cup, where she faced Norway, and being part of the squad that won the 2018 AFC Women's Asian Cup. She was also selected for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2020 Summer Olympics, showcasing her consistent performance at the highest levels of women's football. In early 2022, she was called up for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup, further solidifying her role as a key player for Japan.
