Satoru Mochizuki

Early Life

Satoru Mochizuki was born on May 18, 1964, in Otsu, Japan. He pursued his education at Osaka University of Commerce, where he laid the groundwork for his future in football.

Playing Career

Mochizuki began his professional career in 1987 with Nippon Kokan, later known as NKK SC. During his time there, he contributed to the team's success, helping them secure second place in the 1987–88 Japan Soccer League and winning the 1987 JSL Cup. In 1992, he transferred to Urawa Red Diamonds, where he played until 1995 before moving to Kyoto Sanga FC. His club career culminated in 1996 when he retired from professional football.

On the international stage, Mochizuki made his debut for the Japan national team on January 27, 1988, against the United Arab Emirates. He participated in the 1990 World Cup qualification campaign, earning a total of seven caps for his country until 1989.

Managerial Career

After retiring as a player, Mochizuki transitioned into coaching. He served as the assistant manager for the Japan women's national football team from 2008 to 2012, playing a pivotal role in their victory at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. In February 2024, he was appointed as the head coach of the Indonesia women's national football team, where he also led the U17 team in the 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup. Under his guidance, the senior team achieved a historic 5-1 victory against Singapore in their first match and won their first-ever trophy at the 2024 AFF Women's Cup by defeating Cambodia 3-1 in the final.
