Shiro Teshima

Early Life

Shiro Teshima was born on February 26, 1907, in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Growing up in a country where football was gaining popularity, Teshima developed a passion for the sport that would shape his future.

Career

Teshima's football career took off when he became a student at Tokyo Imperial University, where he was selected to represent the Japan men's national football team in May 1930. His debut came during the Far Eastern Championship Games held in Tokyo, where he made an immediate impact by scoring a goal against the Philippines on May 25. Just a few days later, on May 29, he scored again, this time against the Republic of China, finishing the tournament with two goals in two matches. In addition to his national team success, Teshima played for the Tokyo OB Club and was part of the team that won the Emperor's Cup in 1933 alongside notable players like Shigemaru Takenokoshi and Teiichi Matsumaru.

Legacy

Shiro Teshima's contributions to Japanese football were recognized long after his playing days ended. In 2008, he was inducted into the Japan Football Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the pioneers of the sport in Japan. His achievements continue to inspire future generations of footballers in the country.
