Early Life

Yohei Kajiyama was born on September 24, 1985, in Koto, Tokyo, Japan. From a young age, he showed a passion for football, which led him to join the youth team of FC Tokyo. His dedication and skill on the field quickly set him apart, paving the way for a professional career.

Career

Kajiyama made his professional debut with FC Tokyo in 2003, where he became known as a skilful playmaker, celebrated for his exceptional passing, ball control, and ability to shoot with both feet. His contributions helped FC Tokyo secure their first major title, the J.League Cup, in 2004. By 2005, he had established himself as a regular defensive midfielder, and in 2008, he was honored with the prestigious number 10 shirt. Over the years, he played a crucial role in the team's successes, including winning the Emperor's Cup in 2011 and returning to J1 League after a brief relegation.

In 2013, Kajiyama had a brief stint in Greece with Panathinaikos before returning to FC Tokyo, where he faced challenges in securing playing time. He was subsequently loaned to Oita Trinita, where he played extensively despite the team's struggles. After returning to FC Tokyo and facing diminishing opportunities, he moved to Albirex Niigata in 2018, where he concluded his playing career at the end of the season.

National Team Career

Kajiyama's talent was recognized at the international level as well. He represented Japan in the U-20 national team during the 2005 World Youth Championship, playing three matches as a defensive midfielder. He also participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics with the U-23 national team, where he wore the number 10 shirt and played all three matches, showcasing his skills on a global stage.
