Yoshinori Ishigami

Early Life

Yoshinori Ishigami was born on November 4, 1957, in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. His journey in football began after he graduated from high school, when he joined Yamaha Motors, a club that would later become known as Júbilo Iwata, in 1976.

Club Career

Ishigami's professional career spanned from 1976 to 1990, during which he played as a defender. He was instrumental in the club's rise through the ranks, helping Yamaha Motors achieve promotion to the Regional Leagues in 1977 and then to the Japan Soccer League in 1979. His tenure at the club was marked by significant achievements, including winning the league championship in the 1987-88 season and the Emperor's Cup in 1982. Ishigami's talent on the field earned him recognition, as he was selected for the Best Eleven twice during his career.

National Team Career

In addition to his club success, Ishigami also represented the Japan men's national football team. He made his debut on September 30, 1984, in a match against South Korea. Over the next two years, he played a total of 12 games for the national team, participating in the 1986 World Cup qualification and the 1986 Asian Games. His contributions to Japanese football during this period were significant, as he helped elevate the national team's profile on the international stage.

Ishigami retired from professional football in 1990, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated player who contributed to the growth of football in Japan.
