Yutaka Ikeuchi

Early Life

Yutaka Ikeuchi was born on August 25, 1961, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He began his football journey at a young age, showcasing his talent and passion for the sport. After completing high school, he joined the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works in 1980, marking the start of his professional career.

Career

Ikeuchi's professional career took off when he joined Fujita Industries in 1981, a club that would later become known as Shonan Bellmare. During his time with the club, he played a crucial role in their success, helping them win the Japan Soccer League championship in 1981. Over the years, he witnessed the club's ups and downs, including relegation in 1990 and a triumphant return to the top tier of Japanese football in 1993, when they won the championship in Division 2 and were promoted to the J1 League. However, Ikeuchi retired in 1993 without ever playing in the J.League.

In addition to his club career, Ikeuchi represented the Japan national team from 1983 to 1985, earning 8 caps. He made his debut on February 12, 1983, against Syria and participated in the qualification rounds for the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1986 World Cup.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Ikeuchi transitioned into coaching. He took on the role of manager for the Japan U-17 national team in 2007, leading them at the 2009 U-17 World Cup. His coaching journey continued as he became the technical advisor for the Vietnam U-17 national team in February 2025, and later, in August 2025, he was appointed head coach of the Vietnam U-20 team for the 2025 Seoul EOU Cup. Ikeuchi's dedication to developing young talent reflects his commitment to the sport and his desire to contribute to football in Asia.
