Goran Jurić

Early Life

Goran "Goca" Jurić is a Croatian former professional footballer born in Croatia. He played as a defender and had a notable career in both club and international football. Jurić's journey in football began at FK Velež Mostar, where he played from 1982 to 1987, before moving to FK Crvena zvezda, where he enjoyed significant success, winning multiple Yugoslav First League titles and the prestigious European Cup in 1991.

Club Career

After his time at Red Star Belgrade, Jurić transferred to RC Celta de Vigo in Spain, where he played until 1993. His career took a turn when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, leading him to leave Celta Vigo. He returned to Croatia, joining GNK Dinamo Zagreb in 1993, where he continued to excel, winning several Croatian First League titles and cups until 2000. Jurić also had brief stints with NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac and Yokohama F. Marinos, before returning to N.K. Zagreb for a final season in 2001.

International Career

On the international stage, Jurić initially represented the Yugoslavia national team, making his debut in 1988. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, he began playing for the Croatia national team, earning his first cap in 1997. He was part of the Croatian squad that achieved a remarkable third-place finish at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, although he did not play in the tournament. His international career concluded in 1999 after competing in a European Championship qualification match against Serbia and Montenegro.
