Early Life

Kenyu Sugimoto is a talented Japanese professional footballer known for his role as a forward. His journey in football began at a young age, and he quickly made a name for himself in youth competitions. Sugimoto was a member of the Japan national under-17 football team from 2007 to 2009, where he showcased his skills on an international stage, notably scoring a goal against Brazil during the 2009 U-17 World Cup.

Career

Sugimoto's professional career kicked off in 2010 with Cerezo Osaka, where he played until 2014. He had a brief stint with Tokyo Verdy in 2012 before returning to Cerezo Osaka for another two years. In 2015, he joined Kawasaki Frontale, but his career continued to flourish as he represented Japan's national under-23 team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, helping the team secure a fourth-place finish.

In 2017, Sugimoto made his debut for the Japan men's national football team during the World Cup qualification matches. He played for several clubs, including Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F. Marinos, before joining Júbilo Iwata in 2022. As of 2023, he is also playing for RB Omiya Ardija on loan, further solidifying his presence in Japanese football.

Throughout his career, Sugimoto has received numerous accolades, including being named to the J.League Best XI and winning the J.League Cup MVP in 2017.
