Marques Batista de Abreu, known simply as Marques, is a former Brazilian football striker born in Brazil. His journey in football began at a young age, leading him to a professional career that spanned nearly two decades.

Career

Marques's professional career kicked off at S.C. Corinthians Paulista, where he played from 1993 to 1995, contributing to the team's success by winning the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil in 1995. He then had a brief stint at São Paulo FC in 1997 before moving to Clube Atlético Mineiro, where he enjoyed significant success, including winning the Copa Conmebol in 1997 and multiple Campeonato Mineiro titles.

In 2003, Marques made a move to Japan, joining Nagoya Grampus Eight, where he made a notable impact by ranking second in assists in the J1 League with 10 assists during the 2003 season. His partnership with fellow Brazilian Ueslei was particularly fruitful, as Ueslei topped the goal-scoring charts that year. Marques returned to Brazil to play for clubs like CR Vasco da Gama and Flamengo, before concluding his career at Clube Atlético Mineiro in 2010.

Marques represented the Brazil men's national football team from 1994 to 2002, showcasing his skills on an international level. His individual accolades include being named to the J1 League Best Eleven in 2004 and receiving the Brazilian Bola de Prata in 1999 and 2001.
