Formation and Early Years

KAS Eupen, a Belgian professional football club, was established on July 9, 1945, through the merger of two local clubs, Jugend Eupen and FC Eupen 1920. The club played its first official match shortly after its formation on July 21 during a festive tournament. Initially competing in the Liège Provincial Division II, KAS Eupen faced challenges, including relegation to the Regional Division II. However, under the guidance of player-coach Roger Burgers, the club achieved its first title, which was followed by another, allowing them to ascend to the national divisions for the first time in 1951.

Progress and Promotions

KAS Eupen's journey through the national divisions was marked by ups and downs. After a brief stint, they secured promotion again at the end of the 1955–56 season, led by coach Albert Bertrand. The club experienced further relegation but returned to the higher divisions before the 1961–62 season. Hubert Van Dormael, who joined in 1966, led the team to a historic second-place finish in the 1967–68 season and their first promotion to the Belgian Third Division the following year. This success prompted the construction of a new stand, marking a significant development in the club's infrastructure.

Achievements

KAS Eupen has had a notable history in Belgian football, with several achievements in various divisions. They have been runners-up in the Belgian Second Division three times and have won the Belgian Third Division three times as well. Their honors also include victories in the Belgian Fourth Division and a title in the Liège First Provincial, showcasing their competitive spirit and resilience throughout the years. Currently, KAS Eupen competes in the Challenger Pro League, continuing to build on its rich legacy in Belgian football.
