Yasuharu Kurata

Early Life

Yasuharu Kurata was born on February 1, 1963, in Fujieda, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He pursued his education at the University of Tsukuba, where he honed his skills in football, setting the stage for his future career in the sport.

Playing Career

Kurata began his professional football journey in 1986 when he joined Honda FC, competing in the Japan Soccer League until 1989. He then transferred to Tokyo Verdy, where he played until 1992. During his time at Honda FC, he developed a reputation as a solid defender. Kurata also represented the Japan men's national football team, earning his first cap in September 1986 during the Asian Games against Nepal. He continued to play for the national team until 1987, participating in six matches and contributing to Japan's efforts in international competitions, including the 1988 Summer Olympics qualification.

Coaching Career

After retiring from professional play in 1992, Kurata transitioned into coaching, starting with Avispa Fukuoka in 1995. He dedicated over a decade to coaching roles, including stints at Vissel Kobe and FC Gifu, where he took on managerial responsibilities. In 2012, he expanded his coaching career internationally by signing with Dalian Aerbin in China, returning to Japan in 2015 to manage Tochigi SC. Kurata's journey reflects his deep commitment to football, both on and off the pitch, as he nurtured the next generation of players.
