CF Pachuca

Formation

Club de Fútbol Pachuca, commonly known as CF Pachuca, is a Mexican professional football club based in Pachuca, Hidalgo. Founded on November 1, 1892, as Pachuca Football Club by British miners from the Compañía Real del Monte y Pachuca, the club was established during a time when football was merely a hobby for these workers. The club's name was changed to Pachuca Athletic Club in 1895 after merging with local cricket clubs, allowing for a broader range of sports to be played.

Early Years and Development

In its early years, Pachuca AC played a significant role in the establishment of organized football in Mexico. In 1902, it joined other clubs to form the Liga Mexicana de Football Amateur Association, marking a pivotal moment in Mexican football history. The club won its first amateur title in the 1904-05 season and claimed the Copa Tower twice in the early 1900s. By 1915, the team had transitioned to a predominantly Mexican roster, winning additional titles under the guidance of British coach Alfred C. Crowle.

Modern Era

The club underwent a refounding in 1960, adopting its current name, CF Pachuca. Since then, it has become a prominent team in Liga MX, known for its competitive spirit and dedication to the sport. The nickname "Tuzos" pays homage to the club's mining heritage and the history of the city of Pachuca. Today, CF Pachuca continues to be a significant force in Mexican football, playing its home matches at Estadio Hidalgo and contributing to the rich tapestry of the sport in the country.
